TAPMI-Saint Mary’s College t-GEMBA (Trans Global MBA) Immersion Programme at TAPMI-CEE Bangalore.
During the period between Sept 01, 2011 to Sept 04, 2011, 19 participants pursuing the t-GEMBA (Trans Global MBA) programme at the Saint Mary’s college, California visited India for undergoing an Immersion Programme. TAPMI and Saint Mary’s held joint exercises in Global Negotiations as a part of this programme. TAPMI EPGDM Alumni as well students of current batch of PGDM – II took active part in the entire programme.
On Sept 02, 2011, the programme organized at Hotel Royal Orchid (Central), Bangalore was inaugurated by Prof. Simon George, Dean Academics, TAPMI and Prof. Sham Kamath, Associate Dean/Director and Professor of Global Business Economics in the Saint Mary’s College. Prof. Simon delivered the keynote address and gave a talk on the Indian Culture, the Ethos of various religions and various languages in India and how the Indian Economy is able to sustain the global recession in spite of such huge diversities in all areas. He impressed upon the participants that diversity in India in all facets has helped the country to face the global challenges relating to economic adversities.
The keynote address was followed by a CEO talk on “India’s IT: Corporate Strategies and Global Prospects after the World Crisis”. It was delivered by Mr. Andrew Bhagyanathan, CFO, Ittiam Systems, Bangalore. This was followed by a visit of the participants to Infosys Technologies Ltd, Bangalore. The participants were taken around the entire Infosys Campus and there after Mr. Sanjay Purohit, Vice President – Corporate Planning & Business Assurance at Infosys Technologies made a presentation on “Strategic Global Management of IT”. His presentation was with specific reference to the strategies and vision of Infosys. The participants could get an insight into this subject and there was a Q & A session after his presentation.
On Sept 03, 2011, TAPMI-CEE, Bangalore, organized a GENPRO (Global Executive Negotiation Programme). GENPRO is a unique, practice-focused cross-cultural negotiation exercise meant to enhance the global negotiation capabilities of programme participants. In this exercise, the EPGDM alumni as well as the PGDM – II students of TAPMI, Manipal took part representing the Indian negotiating team. After the exercise, the two sides got together for an information and reflection session to review their experiences and the lessons learnt in the negotiation process and focused on the cross cultural aspects of negotiation.
The GENPRO was followed by a Panel discussion on “World Economic Crisis & Future Strategy of India”. The panelists included Mr. Kumar Bakthavatchalu, CFO, Mathwork; Mr. Ananth Pophali, Vice President, Insurance Applications in Mphasis Ltd (an HP Company) and Dr. Shashi Sivaramakrishna, Economist and Documentary Filmmaker. The panel discussion was followed by Q & A session in which all the participants of t-GEMBA took active part.
On Sept 04, 2011, the t-GEMBA participants also made a visit to Mysore for sight seeing.
