Dr. Meera Baindur has over 20 years of teaching experience and over 15 years of research experience. She has been deeply involved in humanities and social science education in India and is passionate about the environmental issues and philosophy. Her teaching and research interests are interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary. Her work delves into the intersections of environmental ethics, Indian philosophy, and feminist thought. With a distinguished academic background, she has earned recognition for her insightful contributions to the discourse on sustainability, biodiversity, and cultural perspectives on nature and environmental humanities. She is the Co-Coordinator of the Manipal Centre for Design with Environment through Education, Planning and Advocacy (DWEEPA)

Her scholarly pursuits extend beyond academia, as she actively engages with various

international bodies, including the Consortium of Environmental Philosophers. Additionally,

Dr. Baindur is the India Jury delegate and coach for the International Philosophy Olympiad.

Dr. Meera Baindur actively participates in public dialogues on environmental issues,

advocating for ethical approaches to environmental conservation and social justice.

Her research interests include the Environmental humanities (including nature-human

interactions and conceptualizing nature, ethics, and ecocriticism); Indian philosophical and

cultural traditions; Particularly Indian Knowledge systems.  the idea of place and cultural geography; sacred places and landscape.

She recently published a historical fiction under the nom de plume “Mansi” with Speaking Tiger Publications titled “Sharvay: A Novel” that was featured in a discussion panel of women writers at the Bangalore literature festival 2023.
