Abhyudaya – 2011
Abhyudaya, the first Healthcare conclave of T.A.Pai Management Institute started with full swing as corporate personalities from across the Healthcare sector showered the wealth of knowledge on enthusiastic students of the institute. This healthcare conclave like the HR (Disha-2011) and Finance (Horizon) conclaves hosted by TAPMI a few days back. Soon to follow is the Marketing conclave, Brandwidth, in line with TAPMI’s vision of having an in-depth interaction of the industry with students.
The conclave was inaugurated by Dr. Sripathi Rao, Dean of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. Dr. A.S Vasudeva Rao, Director-TAPMI extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished panellists from healthcare industry, guests and students present. The eminent personalities present in the Conclave were Dr. Ratnakar, Director – Strategy (India) from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, Hyderabad, Mrs. Vinayambika, Senior Vice President-Healthcare, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai, Mr. Joy Chakraborty, Director – Administration, Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. B. Krishnamurthy, NABH Empanelled Assessor, Indian Healthcare Service, Chennai and Mr. Vivek Dilwari, Commercial Director, Entrepreneurship in BESINS Healthcare, Mumbai Healthcare.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Sripathi Rao shed light on various challenges faced by the healthcare industry and stressed on the significance of health care professionals in removing the health care issues existing in an emerging economy / country like India. He reeled out voluminous data on Indian population, health statistics and the urgent need to find solutions thro PPP model.
The inauguration was followed by individual lectures from eminent speakers on various aspects of Healthcare. Dr. Ratnakar spoke on various opportunities for professional managers in Pharmaceutical Sector and noted that increased governmental spending will drive growth in the sector. Ms. Vinayambika stressed the significance of bringing the costs down in Healthcare sector through the intelligent use of IT solutions. While Mr. Joy Chakraborty emphasised the need for professional managers in the Healthcare sector, Dr. B. Krishnamurthy from NABH introduced different activities conducted by NABH and its role in accreditation of hospitals across the country. In the end, Mr. Vivek Dilwari enlightened the students about the various entrepreneurship opportunities in Indian Healthcare sector and urged the students to proactively work towards realising these opportunities. Dr Vasudev Rao, Director-TAPMI while appreciating the efforts made by the Students Committees and acknowledging the thoughts shared by the experts from various parts of the country, announced the launch of a new Centre for Research in Healthcare.
In all, the aim of “Abhyudaya”, which was to bring together professionals from across the Healthcare sector to discuss different aspects of healthcare in India and the need for professional managers to work towards the betterment of the sector, was nearly achieved. The event was well co-ordinated by the Student Affairs Committee of T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal in association with the Healthcare Committee at TAPMI. On the same occasion, a T-shirt of BrandScan, the market research fair of TAPMI, was launched by Dr Vasudev Rao. BrandScan, which has been a mainstay at TAPMI since 18 years, has been scheduled in November.
The first Healthcare conclave thus ended on a grand note with a vote of thanks from the Healthcare Forum of TAPMI.
