Induction Program for the PGP Batch 2013-15

TAPMI, Manipal extended a warm welcome on June 15, 2013 to its 31St Batch of PGDM and 4th Batch of PGDM-Healthcare students. The induction program started off with a prayer at Chaitya Hall, FortuneInn Valley View, Manipal, with a formal inaugural session. Dr R C Natarajan, Director welcomed the new batch and informed them about the prestigious accreditation of TAPMI by AACSB International. The Chief Guest Dr. P Tamilvanan, Chairman, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), Mangalore addressed the students with his words of wisdom. He spoke on the essential qualities a Manager of the future should possess. He substantiated his own experiences at various ports like Vizag, Chennai, Kochi and Mangalore. Dr. H. Shantaram Administrative Officer, Academy of General Education greeted the students and shared about the evolution of Manipal as a global hub for higher education as envisioned by its founder Dr. TMA Pai. This was followed by the batch being introduced to the faculty members and academics at TAPMI.

TAPMI admitted 409 students for the year new batch. This batch has a good mix of students with various backgrounds and the students represent different cultures. 31 % of students constituted female members and over 92% of the batch had completed their technical education of either B. E or B. Tech. The students comprised of 16 % of freshers and belong to 60 % of the states in India. The batch has an average of 2 years and a maximum of 4.5 years work experience in leading companies.

On the second day, the batch interacted with a distinguished alumnus Mr. Shashank Shukla from New Delhi, whose inspiring words were a valuable take away and was a truly inspiring start to the students. While the formal aspect of the induction was held with smooth finesse, in the night the juniors had a cultural program conducted by the Cultural Committee to showcase their talents. Dances, dramas and lots of fun were the order of the day.
